Are you looking to pursue a career in engineering? Engineering extends across a wide range of sectors, including manufacturing, technology, healthcare, energy, and digital systems. It is one of the most versatile and future-oriented fields in the modern world.

The Level 3 SwissUK® Foundation Diploma in Engineering is designed to help learners build a strong foundation and gain a broad introduction to the core areas of engineering. Through this programme, learners will develop essential knowledge of engineering principles, engineering design, electrical and electronic systems, mechanics, statistics, and applied mathematics.

This Level 3 qualification is positioned within the UK Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and is assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to GCE AS/A Levels. Upon completion, learners may progress to undergraduate programmes, subject to the admission requirements of the receiving institution, or enter employment at an appropriate level.

Mandatory Modules

1. Engineering Principles (M/618/6101): 10 UK Credits/5 ECTS Credits.

  • Understand the foundational principles of engineering and their historical development.
  • Gain practical skills in applying SI units, performing calculations, and interpreting engineering information.

2. Design Technology (T/618/6102): 10 UK Credits/5 ECTS Credits.

  • Learn problem-solving approaches in design and material selection for engineering products.
  • Develop 2D CAD drawing skills and understand the systems approach to electrical design.

3. Electricity (A/618/6103): 10 UK Credits/5 ECTS Credits.

  • Understand AC and DC circuit theory and the role of electrical components in circuit design.
  • Explore power systems, including power supply and circuit protection.

4. Mechanics (F/618/6104): 10 UK Credits/5 ECTS Credits.

  • Analyze the motion of objects using mathematical principles and understand energy conservation.
  • Explore energy transfer, forces, and the properties of materials under stress.

5. Introducing Statistics (J/618/6105): 10 UK Credits/5 ECTS Credits.

  • Understand statistical concepts, data representation, and variability.
  • Learn to calculate and interpret statistical diagrams and measures for engineering applications.

6. Mathematics (L/618/6106): 10 UK Credits/5 ECTS Credits.

  • Apply algebra, geometry, and calculus to solve practical engineering problems.
  • Use exponentials, logarithms, and trigonometry in engineering contexts.
Assignments:
  • Complete 6 written assignments (2,000–3,000 words each) based on the module titles.

  • Develop expertise in engineering principles, design technology, and circuit theory for practical applications.
  • Build analytical skills in mechanics, motion, and material behavior under various forces.
  • Train learners in statistical analysis, data interpretation, and variability measurement.

The programme runs over 6 months and is delivered through an automated e-learning model, including:

Admission
Entry Requirements:
  • Applicants must be at least 16 years old.
  • Completion of full secondary education is required.
English Requirements:
  • Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR): Level B2; or
  • IELTS: Overall score of 5.5, with Reading and Writing at 5.5; or
  • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic): Score of 51.
Level 3 e-ProCerts

As a program mapped to National Occupational Standards, along with the supplemental knowledge system, students can engage in self-study through interactive lessons, attend webinars, and take online tests to earn 06 Level 3 e-ProCerts. Each e-ProCerts reflects Level 3 (Foundation Level), outlines the Learning Outcomes, and provides certification upon completion.

If students wish to convert their e-ProCerts to hard copies, they can use an optional service for a minimal fee.
