Program Introduction

The Level 3 SwissUK® Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care is designed to help learners build the foundational knowledge, skills, and understanding required for the health and social care field.

This Level 3 qualification is positioned within the UK Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and is assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to GCE AS/A Levels. Upon completion, learners may progress to undergraduate programmes, subject to the admission requirements of the receiving institution, or enter employment at an appropriate level.

Mandatory Modules

1. Responsibilities of a Health and Social Care Worker (H/618/5284): 10 UK Credits / 5 ECTS Credits

  • This unit helps learners understand the roles and responsibilities associated with different health and social care settings. It also supports the development of practical knowledge for building effective working relationships and promoting professional collaboration within care environments.

2. Personal and Professional Development in Health and Social Care (T/618/5287): 10 UK Credits / 5 ECTS Credits

  • This unit focuses on personal and professional development through reflective practice. Learners develop an understanding of the importance of continuous learning in strengthening skills, improving practice, and supporting professional effectiveness.

3. Effective Communication and Ethical Practice in Health and Social Care (F/618/5289): 10 UK Credits / 5 ECTS Credits

  • This unit emphasises the importance of communication in health and social care, particularly in responding appropriately to individual needs. Learners are also introduced to key principles of professional ethics, equality, diversity, and human rights in care practice.

4. Health, Safety and Wellbeing in Health and Social Care Settings (F/618/5292): 10 UK Credits / 5 ECTS Credits

  • This unit provides learners with the knowledge and skills required to support health, safety, and wellbeing in care settings. Topics include safeguarding vulnerable individuals, recognising forms of abuse, and identifying possible warning signs.

5. Person-centred Approaches in Health and Social Care Settings (J/618/5293): 10 UK Credits / 5 ECTS Credits

  • This unit helps learners understand and apply person-centred approaches in health and social care. The focus is on recognising each individual’s abilities, needs, and values, rather than viewing care only through the lens of illness or condition.

6. Effective Handling of Information in Health and Social Care Settings (L/618/5294): 10 UK Credits / 5 ECTS Credits

  • This unit introduces the principles of handling information in a secure, accurate, and ethical manner. Learners develop an understanding of how information may be recorded, stored, shared, and accessed appropriately within health and social care settings.
Assignments:
  • Complete 3 written assignments (2,000–3,000 words each) based on the module titles.
Learning outcomes
  • To develop learners’ understanding of roles, responsibilities, and professional standards within health and social care settings.
  • To support the development of professional practice through reflective thinking, continuous learning, and improvement in personal effectiveness.
  • To strengthen communication, teamwork, and relationship-building skills in multidisciplinary care environments.
  • To develop awareness of health, safety, and wellbeing in relation to individuals and communities, including the recognition and prevention of risk and abuse.
  • To support the application of person-centred approaches that respect diversity, rights, and the individual needs of each person.
  • To develop an understanding of how information should be handled securely, accurately, and in accordance with professional and ethical principles.
Learning model

The programme runs over 6 months and is delivered through an automated e-learning model, including:

  • Designed to support self-directed learning.
  • Lessons are structured into concise, easy-to-follow modules, helping learners understand each module more easily upon completion.
  • Learners are provided with the tools and support needed to complete the course requirements effectively.

Admission
Entry Requirements:
  • Applicants must be at least 16 years old.
  • Completion of full secondary education is required.
English Requirements:
  • Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR): Level B2; or
  • IELTS: Overall score of 5.5, with Reading and Writing at 5.5; or
  • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic): Score of 51.
Level 3 e-ProCerts

As a program mapped to National Occupational Standards, along with the supplemental knowledge system, students can engage in self-study through interactive lessons, attend webinars, and take online tests to earn 03 Level 3 e-ProCerts. Each e-ProCert reflects Level 3 (Foundation Level), outlines the Learning Outcomes, and provides certification upon completion.

If students wish to convert their e-ProCerts to hard copies, they can use an optional service for a minimal fee.
